ALANYAABOUT ALANYA
Alanya is a holiday city with its wide beaches, tourist facilities and historical works of art. It isn't known when it was first established by whom. The known old name of the city was "Coracesium".
The city was named "Kalonoros" in the Byzantium Period. The name of the city was changed as "Alaiye" when Alaaddin Keykubat Ist (1200-1237), one of the Anatolian Seljuk rulers in the 13th century, conquered the castle. Skylarks, one of the BC 4th Century Antique Age geographers, was the first to mention of Coraceseium. In this period, the region was under the sovereignty of the Persians that invaded most part of Anatolia. Strabon, Pir-i Reis, Seyyah Ýbn-i Batuta and Evliya Çelebi are the explorers, who saw and then mentioned of the region in their works of art.

SPORTIVE ACTIVITIES OF ALANYA

Alanya is not only a paradise of History-Culture and Nature, but also a sports paradise with the opportunity of making various land and sea sports and the sports tournaments with international participation.
There are water ski, jet ski, sea parachute, inflated banana boat and similar water sports in its beaches.



Sports tournaments with international participation are realized every year in Alanya. The international tournament organization studies that started with triathlon sports are today extended with sport types like beach volleyball, beach handball, and beach football, Rafting and Mountain bicycle. Last year, the European Triathlon Championship Final race held in Alanya was broadcasted live to whole world on TV by Eurosport.
