ABOUT
ALANYA
Alanya is a holiday city with its wide beaches, tourist facilities and
historical works of art. It isn't known when it was first established
by whom. The known old name of the city was "Coracesium".
The city was named "Kalonoros" in the Byzantium Period. The
name of the city was changed as "Alaiye" when Alaaddin Keykubat
Ist (1200-1237), one of the Anatolian Seljuk rulers in the 13th century,
conquered the castle. Skylarks, one of the BC 4th Century Antique Age
geographers, was the first to mention of Coraceseium. In this period,
the region was under the sovereignty of the Persians that invaded most
part of Anatolia. Strabon, Pir-i Reis, Seyyah Ýbn-i Batuta and Evliya
Çelebi are the explorers, who saw and then mentioned of the region in
their works of art.
